Theme Day: Something That is About to Disappear Soon

This month's Theme Day mission was to photograph something that is about to disappear soon. I realized that "soon" is a very loose term so I chose Shea Stadium, home to the Major League Baseball team the New York Mets. Shea stadium will only be there for the next few years, as a newer stadium is being built in the parking lot, located directly to the left of the where the photograph was taken. It will be a sad day for baseball fans - but not for me :).

Καλό Μήνα! - Good Month! :)

55 Daily Photo sites are participating in the 1st November theme, please use the links to below to visit them.

personally I don't find baseball very entertaining and because Shea Stadium is so close to my parents house it causes soooo much traffic every time I am there - to be honest though I was cheering for them in the postseason, especially when I found out there would have been a parade had they won. alas, they let me down :(

The San Diego Padres got a new one a few years back and now our football team wants a new one too. We didn't get a postseason parade here either.

The new stadiums are not as much fun as the old open-air ones. Let's hope that state-of-the-art building that replaces it is truly better.

I bet the new stadium will look fabulous. Stadiums around the world are getting nicer, fancier and beautiful.

Nice choice! The world famous "Amazin' Mets" are getting a new home. Hopefully Queens (is this stadium in Queens? I've never been to New York, so I don't know where much of anything is or if Queens is a city unto itself or a neighborhood within NYC.)

All the years I lived in NYC, I don't think I ever made it to Shea Stadium. Yankee stadium, Ashe stadium, yes. But not the poor old Mets!
